Calia Brencsons-Van Dyk is an Emmy-award winning and James Beard Award winning Producer who has worked in the entertainment industry for the past two decades. Ms. Van Dyk has worked with many of the greats of food television, award winning hosts, talented writers, performers, singers and numerous other notables of stage, film, television and politics. Calia spent ten year's at Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia where she was a part of the seven-time Emmy-award winning Martha Stewart Show where she rose from Production Coordinator to Acting Executive-in-Charge of Production. During her time at MSLO, she worked on numerous television programs including: Mad Hungry with Lucinda Scala Quinn (Hallmark Channel), Emeril's Table with Chef Emeril Lagasse (Hallmark Channel), Martha Stewart's Apprentice Finale (NBC), Martha Stewart’s Cooking School (PBS), Martha Bakes (PBS), The Live Finale of the 45th Annual Pillsbury Bake-off (Hallmark Channel) , Whatever, Martha! (Fine Living) and Whatever, You're Wrong (Hallmark Channel) as well as seven television specials (Hallmark Channel). Additionally, she worked on several ad campaigns, print projects, web specials, applications and other programing.
Prior to joining Martha Stewart’s team, Calia worked on-and off-Broadway at Richard Frankel Productions where she assisted playwright, Trish Vradenburg on her play Surviving Grace and was a part of the Broadway Hall of Fame. She started her career in the entertainment industry working in the President’s office at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre Center where she was a part of the National Playwrights Conference, the National Musical Theatre Conference, the National Cabaret Symposium and organized the 30th Anniversary of the Conference. At National Dance Institute, she assisted McCarthy Fellow and Oscar Winner-Jacques d’Amboise as a performer and assistant on his national teaching programs and coordinated the 50th Anniversary of the United Nations celebration tour in Geneva, Switzerland. Ms. Van Dyk briefly left the entertainment industry to work at the International consulting firm of McKinsey and Company and later in the President’s office of The French Petroleum Institute where she oversaw the merger of HRI International and IFP and later was a part of the transition to Axens, USA.
As a performer, Ms. Van Dyk has acted in numerous plays in the New York city area, including her one woman show at THE DUPLEX under the tutelage of Shirley Callaway and Erv Raible. As a member of the 8th Annual International Cabaret Conference at YALE UNIVERSITY, she studied with Faith Prince and Jason Graee. Calia has appeared in several presentations of the play DEAR EVA, by playwright, Catherine Ladnier at The Smithsonian institute and will be performing in Ms. Ladnier’s new play this fall in San Francisco.
Ms. Van Dyk has a Certificate of Commercial French from the Paris Chamber of Commerce and The Carl Duisberg Society in Germany and is certified in Danish. She is a State Department Alumna and a member of the Producers Guild of America, SAG-AFTRA and NATAS. Calia has been a guest speaker for Women in Food Television, St. John's, NYU and the Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange Program for Young Professionals. She is a graduate of Mills College and The American Academy of Dramatic Arts where she was the President of the Alumni Association and a member of the Academic Council. Calia is a former member of the American Management Association and has a certificate in International Human Resource Management from SHRM. She is currently an alumni- mentor for Cultural Vistas, the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and the Producers’ Guild and an Emmy voter.
