The world may feel like it's spinning. The news can be heavy. But I want to tell you what I'm seeing from where I sit this Thursday morning — because creativity is not just surviving right now. It is absolutely, defiantly, gloriously alive.

My friend Reno Wilson just had a reading of his play POPS! in Los Angeles. A story he wrote, his voice, his vision, put in front of an audience for the first time. That moment when your creative work leaves your hands and lands in a room full of people — there is nothing like it in the world.

My friend Matt is right now walking the Croisette in Cannes at the Marché du Film with his film Disremember. The Marché du Film is the most important film market on the planet — 15,000 professionals from 140 countries, 4,000 films and projects, all under one roof. And his film is in that room. In Berlin, designers are opening their studios. In Tokyo, concert pianists are playing in courtyards. In New York, seven art fairs are running simultaneously. In London, photographers and craftspeople are showing their work. In Paris, artists are throwing open the doors of their ateliers in Belleville. And on the French Riviera, the films that will shape the next year of cinema are being seen for the first time.

The world is not short of problems. But it has never once stopped making things. And neither should you.
